My parents have always kept my sister, Katie, and me in touch with the 80's. Ever since I remember, Katie and I have listened to Bon Jovi, Tom Petty, Queen, the Eagles, Foreigner, and the list goes on. I guess that's why I felt inspired to write a piece on one of my favorite 80's songs.
I still remember the first time I heard the song. We were in the car and my dad had just bought a new Foreigner CD online. He wanted us to listen to a song that he loved and he put it on first. With my sister and I strangely quiet in the backseat trying to listen to every lyric and getting pulled deeper and deeper into the story, we started to dance in our seats. As the beat gets faster we get to the point that our entire bodies are dancing awkwardly in the truck's back seat. The song ends and both of us have huge smiles on our faces as we ask him to play it again.
Even now, years later, I still get a bit giddy when I hear this upbeat song come on my iPod while doing homework or just hanging out in my room. I always feel like I can do anything when I hear the story of the 'Jukebox Hero'. This boy went from a childhood dream of being a rockstar to actually becoming a rockstar through hard work and lots of guitar practice. It means a lot to me now to always do my best because I want to do what makes me happy and, since I haven't found it yet, I want to keep every option open. This song is about giving your all to do what you love and making what you love your life.
