Forgiveness: An Important Part of Humanity

"An inmate in a concentration camp becomes an assistant to his captors, helping the captors beat prisoners to make them work harder."

I believe that everyone deserves forgiveness.  I don't want anyone to think that I mean that everyone deserves a second chance or that people who do wrong shouldn't be punished, but I do think that forgiving is a very important part of humanity. Part of being human is that we mess up; we aren't perfect. I think that we should be able to recognize that people aren't perfect and that, even if they don't feel remorseful, they deserve to have forgiveness. When I think about forgiveness I remember when Jesus said that we should forgive our brothers "seventy times seven" times. I'm not Jesus, and neither are you, but I know that everything he said is perfect; because of that we may not be able to completely comply. Regardless, people deserve our forgiveness because first of all, it is not our right (as humans) to judge others and secondly, we should have faith that people will be given the punishment that they deserve when they die.

  1. I agree with you, everyone should be able to get forgiveness. We aren't perfect, and we never will be.

  2. Nice composition. People have a hard time with "forgiveness" because as humans, we want our "trespassers" to get what they deserve, but I agree with your views.

  3. I for the most part agree it does say forgive seventy times seven in the bible but also if you do not truly forgive them at them moment you say you forgive them than they are not truly forgiven. you should forgive them but not just because they ask for it you should want to forgive them if you are doing it because it says to in the bible you need to understand the rest of the meaning of forgiveness. but yeah I agree every one does deserve forgiveness

  4. Is there any act--in line we humans can cross--that negates our deserving forgiveness? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

  5. I don't think that anything negates DESERVING forgiveness. However, not everything can be forgiven due to the fact that we are human; and sometimes forgiveness is conditional and sometimes forgiveness takes time. I guess my point is that actual forgiveness and deserving forgiveness are different. I don't feel like anything can take away someone's right to be forgiven.
